The impactful WAALU Final Workshop & AILEEN National Event was held in Ghent, Belgium, on the 5th November. The event brought together
academic and industry professionals to explore the theme: “Powering the Advanced Manufacturing of Aluminium Alloys in Aerospace & Defence
(A&D) with Trends, Research, and Training.”
The event served as a crucial platform for sharing technical and strategic insights among experts focused on Advanced Manufacturing,
Welding, Aerospace, and Defence.
As key parts of the day's agenda, the following partner presentations and milestones deserve a special
highlight:
• Design and Qualification Insights: Wim Verlinde (BIL) delivered a presentation focused on the Design and
Qualification of DED Arc-Parts, emphasizing high-quality, certifiable Advanced Manufacturing.
• Standards, Training, and Qualification: Adelaide Almeida (EWF) introduced the Advanced Manufacturing
Training Frameworks developed within the AILEEN project. This key session highlighted possible pathways for skill development in
the rapidly evolving A&D sectors and their vital link with the globally recognized EWF and IAMQS qualification systems.
• Belgian CoVE Certificate handover: Which represented the official handover of the A&D CoVE Certificate
to the 1st Belgian CoVE. This new Centre of Excellence, a consortium composed of BIL (npo & Industry) and Guaranteed B.V., is poised
